Saturday
I woke up bright and early on Saturday, despite my desire to sleep in until at least 9am. But once I'm up the dogs are up and once they're up everyone's up so 7:30am it was. I stretched and headed out to the living room to get my workout over with right away. One round of Shred later and I was wide awake and ready to get on with the day.
And sweaty. I was also very sweaty.
Pure yolky perfection
This is her happy face.
We hung out with Daph for a bit but hunger soon drove us back out to the streets. Tricia and Spencer took us over to Dockside Willies where nothin' healthy was happening. Not on our table, anyway.
Beer. You know how I do.
Our gracious hosts
Fries with Boom Boom Sauce (I had to guys...I mean, Boom Boom Sauce? I had to.) River Rocks in the back there. They were like mini calzones.
A small (yes, that's a small) Philly cheese steak pizza for me...
And a small pepperoni for Sam.
Sunday
Sunday was a very exciting day because we got to hang out with Lauren and Greg again (and meet their famous dogs, Jackson and Lance)! They invited us to their house for lunch and we gladly accepted. It'd been a while since I'd seen Lauren in real life (of course, I always know what she's up to thanks to the wonderful world of blogging) and I don't think we stopped talking the whole time we were there. Except when we were eating, of course. Lauren set up a very impressive build-your-own salad bar with everything you could ever want. Green and veggies, proteins and carbs. It was glorious! And so pretty to look at.
If I was proactive enough to put that kind of prep work into my lunch salads, I'd look forward to lunch every single day. Also, I really need to find Twin Oaks tofu, and fast.
After lunch Lauren and Greg gave us a personal driving tour of Frederick. Lauren is a true Frederickan, so we got to hear lots of interesting tidbits about the city, and, more importantly, which restaurants are really good. We definitely need to go back soon.
When we got back to the house we had some chocolate tofu pie that I made earlier that morning. I got the recipe from Chocolate-Covered Katie and it was so easy to whip up. The refrigerator did most of the work! And it was gooood.
We spent a few hours with Lauren and Greg but the time went so fast! Before I knew it it was time to head back to the city to
Like I said, we never did get to that laundry so the rest of the evening was spent watching the Olympics before heading to bed. This weekend was one of the ones that just flies by and, before you know it, it's Monday again. Clearly a sign of a good time.
What was boom boom sauce like? Any Comparisons?
ReplyDeleteIt was creamy and tangy, sort of like thousand island minus the chunks and with a hint of spice? It had the texture of an aioli.
DeleteGreg and I learned that a small pizza is pretty much always enough for two people. We typically share that and a salad...and a few beers. I would love to dive right into that pizza you had though.
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for coming all the way to see us- it was so much fun! I love you both! And thanks for putting up with my tour de Frederick. :)
I'll see you soon in DC!
You would think so, but Sam and I were supposed to trade slices. I got one out of her but the next time I looked over it was all gone! The girl can eat! I left with half of mine, though, so sharing would have been ideal.
DeleteYou and Sam are super cute. I love that pic where she's all serious and you're all weird in the backgound. Totally me and my SO. ;)
ReplyDeleteJealous that you got to spend time with Lauren! She is da bomb. That's actually how I got here. Hello. I'm reading now.
Hi! Welcome! I love your blog (which Lauren also introduced me to), so it's kind of like having a celebrity read my words. Will you sign my bra?
DeleteLol!! I love you both and you would totally be BFFs in real life. :)
DeleteCalee come visittttttttt
