Return of the Fatso

Hello everyone and Happy New Year! I missed you! My name's Jenny and I used to blog here at Frankly, Fatso. I started the blog in August of 2011 to challenge myself to lose weight and find a level of health I can be proud of. I started working out regularly and eating more vegetables than I ever thought possible and the weight began to fall off. Before I knew it I'd lost 20 lbs and was feeling better than ever. And then things sort of...slowed down. The next twenty pounds, by no fault of their own, I assure you, crawled off at an excruciatingly slow pace. Over the next year my weight went on a wild ride of gains and losses before I finally lost 40 lbs in October of 2012.

And then I got married!

Around that time life got hectic and I stopped working out. And blogging. And then Thanksgiving arrived and my diet went to shit. And then the wife and I (and our three little dogs, of course) moved back to snowy Pennsylvania!

And then the Christmas season happened upon us...

...and with it came cookies and pies and turkeys and several types of gravy and did I mention I'd stopped working out?

And let's not forget ringing in the New Year!

So I gained 10 lbs. Maybe 15 by now- I haven't stepped on a scale in a while (I'll do that Friday). It's not something I'm proud of. And while I don't regret the past 2 months (they were delicious), I sure as hell don't want to repeat them so I'm jumping back on the wagon. The blogging wagon AND the healthy living wagon. Because I am bogged down and lazy and my insides feel rotten and, man, I just want to get back to losing weight. So that's what I'm going to do.

And I have help in the form of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution, a 90 day workout program that Sam bought us to kick start the new year. Today was Day One and, while the workout sufficiently kicked my arse by the end, I'm proud to say I'm not as out of shape as I thought I'd be. I guess there is something to say for muscle memory after all. (Of course that opinion may change tomorrow when I attempt to get out of bed. I'll have to let you know. There were a lot of squats involved.)

There's also a diet plan and menu that goes along with the program, but we're not exactly going to follow it. I'll probably use a few of the recipes, but for the most part I'm just going to revert back to how I used to cook and eat- simple ingredients, good carbs, high protein, natural sugars, and loads of veggies...the way things were way back when.

-today's breakfast/lunch (I got up late): tomato slices, 2 fried eggs, and sauteed kale-
-today's dinner: whole wheat spinach pasta with peppers, onions, and marinara-
So, that's what's up with me. Now how are you? How were the holidays? How are the folks? What'd ya eat good? Is anyone out there?

    1. It's called "orange salad" so I'm not exactly sure. I think it's cool whip and mandarin oranges and some kind of nuts and maybe marshmallows?
