Not because you'll be crying, but because I'll probably end up sneezing on you. For the third time in two months, I am sick. Every time I get rid of a cold, another one is lurking right around the corner just waiting to attack my respiratory system and clog me up with snot. It's been a wretched weekend. Mostly. Except for the few good parts.
Saturday
This is going to sound like a broken record and I don't even care right now (it's probably the cold meds because I was way embarrassed to admit this yesterday)- we quit the cleanse. Sort of. After spending $160 on produce in 5 days, Sam and I decided that right now is not the time to be attempting an expensive cleanse. Because that's what it is- it's expensive. And timely. Time I've got because I'm unemployed, but money? Money I have little of. Because I'm unemployed. And we just can't afford to spend money on specialty foods when we already have perfectly good food in the pantry. So we're going back to eating eggs and beans and rice and quinoa and all of those other good things that plump up your meals and make the veggies stretch a lot further. This is actually mostly on par with what the cleanse calls for in week 2 (adding back all beans and legumes, plus seafood) so it's not like we're throwing ourselves completely off track. We're just doing it our way aka the cheap way. Okay. That's done.
So, back to Saturday. I woke up sick and that sucks. Especially considering I had no symptoms of the dreaded cold the night before. I went to bed feeling normal and I woke up feeling like dog shit. The crusty white kind. (Remember that? Whatever happened to white poop?) But I was still hungry so I fried up a sweet potato to split with Sam. And then I laid in bed for a while trying to get my head to stop hurting. When that didn't work, we went to get burritos.
This bad boy was filled with brown rice, chicken, guac, salsa, lettuce, onion, and jalapenos, all wrapped up in a whole wheat tortilla. My hometown might be small, but we've got damn good burritos. However, after a week of eating mostly vegetables, I was stuffed by the time I got half of it down.
After lunch Sam headed off to work and I went to Walmart then did yoga then went back to my sister's apartment to hang out with my other sister, the Buckster.
| It took three tries before I could convince her to smile nicely. What a goonie. |
I sneezed my way through the whole night and by the time Sam showed up after work I was ready to hit the pillow. We played one more game of Hedbanz and then headed home to bed.
Sunday
I woke up today feeling twice as bad as yesterday. I don't have a fever so I know it's not the flu but it sure is hell. Sam had to work again today so she had to do all of the running around on her own this morning. She came back to the house with a sub and some sweet potato fries. I ate a little but didn't take a picture, so use your imagination. And then she went to work and I've been wallowing in self-pity on the couch and popping cold pills and vitamin C like candy (not really...I'm not ODing...don't worry) ever since. Luckily for me the SAG Awards are on tonight and I do love me some red carpet coverage. And I just ordered some soup and salad to be delivered, so that'll be a good time. Not that I can taste it. Ugh.
Okay, I'm done sharing my woes. I hope your weekend was wonderful. Here's a picture of Spencer being pensive.
We enjoyed your presence Friday AND Saturday.
